During this webinar, Mark Klenke from Aon Valuation Services will provide a brief overview of the current state of the insurance market. Mark's presentation will cover issues such as pricing, capacity and claims (including the current Australian bushfire claims situation) and will then move onto the specifics of valuing property assets for insurance purposes. This discussion will include the basis of settlement and the importance of getting the sum insured correct, as well as some of the little-known issues facing valuers such as the impact of demand surge price increases, removal of debris allowances, extra costs of re-instatement and the importance of identifying risk factors when valuing a property.

Dennis joined the API in 1983 and is a current Fellow member. He is a Past President of the Australian Property Institute (WA Division) having served as the President over the period 2011 to 2013. Dennis was also was chairman of the Marketing and Communication and Regional State Conference Committees of the API, serving on the Divisional Council for 9 years.

He was reappointed to the Western Australian Committee in October 2017.

Dennis was also the Australian Property Institute (WA Division) appointed National Council Representative for the 12 month period ending May 2015, overseeing a period of significant structural change for the API, at both a National and State level.

Mark graduated from the University of South Australia with a Bachelor of Business in Property in 1992 and since this time has worked in the specialised field of insurance valuations.  In 2002 he commenced work with Aon, one of the largest insurance brokers in the world in the then newly formed Valuation Services team and he now heads their Australian property valuation division.  Mark is also one of a handful of valuers who are Associate members of the API’s Property and Plant valuation streams, is on the Institute’s Western Australian Division’s CPD as well as the National Education Committees. 

Over the years Mark has completed valuations throughout Australia, South East Asia and North America for assets ranging from mines, LNG processing facilities, food manufacturing, infrastructure and sporting stadiums to six-star tourist resorts.
